Filament costs vary threefold between brands. The defaults are typical, and every one of them is overridable.

Honest about being an estimate

The report says what is excluded: supports, travel moves, failed prints, electricity, labour. It is a planning number, not a quote.

How It Works

Measure

The mesh is loaded and its enclosed volume and surface area are measured. A mesh that encloses no volume is rejected rather than guessed at.

Model

Walls are estimated from surface area times wall thickness; the interior is scaled by your infill. The sum is the material volume actually deposited.

Price

Material volume becomes grams through density, dollars through your price per kg, and hours through a volumetric print rate. All shown in the report.

An estimate, never a quote

The real number comes from your slicer, because only the slicer knows your layer height, support settings, and toolpaths. This tool exists for the step before that: deciding if a print is worth doing, comparing materials, or sanity-checking a service bureau's price.

Cost here means material cost. Electricity, machine wear, failed attempts, and your time are all real and all excluded. Print farms typically charge 3 to 10 times material cost for exactly those reasons.

If the mesh is not watertight its volume is not trustworthy, and the estimate inherits that. The report warns you; the STL Checker & Repair tool fixes it.
